2010 was the hands down, toughest year of my life (so far, anyways! I wrote about it here.)
One of the gifts of that hard time was a giant softening in me – especially as I found myself bingeing on sugar again. That softening opened my heart, and caused me to reflect on my writing, teaching, and everything I’d said or believed about sugar.
I ended up revising all my materials and coming to a new, softer, kinder understanding towards myself, sugar and healing. It’s what I’m honored to share with you.
I revised the book that started it all, Overcoming Sugar Addiction, and published the 2nd edition for those who like to hold a paperback in their hands as I do. I also rewrote the Sugar Addiction Support Program (a.k.a. Kick Your Sugar Habit class) that’s follows the book. It’s now a workbook called Becoming Binge Free and is based on the 6 practices of growing human(kind)ness, a therapy I created to soothe the emotional roots of food suffering like bingeing, overeating, and sugar addiction.
My purpose is to explain how the support program changed, and invite you to join me for a fresh look at your relationship with food. The revised program is different in a couple big ways:
- I distilled down the material to its essence, covering 6 practices instead of 12.
- The class includes a spiral bound workbook, shipped direct to you. That’s the basis of this program now. There’s something important about the physical experience of writing pen to paper. A shift happens, and this workbook makes it easy and structured. You’ll want to hold and keep this workbook.
- Audio teachings: There are 6 CDs, one for each practice, for you to listen to on your computer, on your iPod, in the car, wherever you find the space.
- Save your questions for follow-up calls in a small group setting. There will be opportunities to listen online or by phone, scheduled in daytime and evening times for people across the world. This will be your opportunity to ask direct, personal questions about the material in the workbook and audio sessions. Calls are recorded.
- I’m teaching classes on a regular basis throughout the year. Learn more about ongoing classes.
In this revised class, we’ll focus on 6 practices that create a supportive internal and external environment to heal. You’ll create safety with rhythm, grounding and routine; care for your needs with nurturing, and care for your sensitivity by flowing. The inner work softens judgment, soothes feelings, and fosters acceptance of your food limits.
The result of this inquiry – besides the foundation to give up sugar – is intimacy and belonging, a different relationship with yourself, one characterized by self-trust, resilience, strength, and compassion. It’s a softer, less strident approach, for you and for me.
There’s a lot to be excited about, and I hope you can imagine how it will feel to have this kind of support in these new formats. But remember, this program follows after my book Overcoming Sugar Addiction. If you purchased the first edition, you’re eligible for free lifetime updates. So let us know if you’d like us to send you a free copy of the 2nd edition (include the purchase date or email address you used for buying the 1st edition).
In love,
Karly

Will you tell me more about the program? I own neither of the books but am very much convinced that listening to a helpful cd , being part of a support group and also learning the self trust you suggested could make all the difference.
Please let me know the break down of cost involved in your program.
Thanks,
Kelli Packer
Would love the 2nd edition!!
Thanks,
Beth
